Alton Ashy

Alton Ashy established Advanced Strategies nearly two decades ago. As the firm's president, Alton brings a wealth of knowledge, a strong work ethic and sharp business insight to his projects. He began his professional career as a legislative staffer working for both the Louisiana Senate and House of Representatives and quickly transitioned into governmental relations representing clients including Louisiana State University. Alton’s ability to quickly assess an issue and develop a winning legislative strategy has helped Advanced Strategies achieve great success for its clients over the years.

Cheryl England

Supporting ASI’s success is Cheryl England, the firm’s office and administrative manager. She is an integral part of the team and serves as project manager, scheduler and communications coordinator. As a veteran of the Louisiana House of Representatives staff and executive assistant to two Speakers of the House, she brings more than 25 years of governmental experience to the firm. Cheryl attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana and earned a degree in Finance from McNeese State University.

 

 

Jonathan Seliger

Jonathan Seliger joined Advanced Strategies following an impressive tenure in private practice at the international law firms of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in New York City and Bracewell LLP in Houston. Jonathan also previously served as Special Assistant to former U.S. Senator and NATO Ambassador, Kay Bailey Hutchison, where he gained valuable insights into the workings of national and state government. As ASI’s Executive Vice-President, Jonathan is known for his dedication, congeniality and hands-on approach while providing strategic and tactical support to clients, and helping them formulate strategies to achieve their legislative and regulatory objectives. Jonathan’s deep understanding of both legal and governmental landscapes positions him as a key strategist at Advanced Strategies, specializing in many key issues, including natural resources, business and commerce and government procurement. His ability to assess complex issues and develop winning strategies for his clients helps drive the firm’s continued success and makes him a valued leader and trusted advisor in his field. Jonathan was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers from 2019 to 2024. He holds a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law, and a B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin. 

 

 

Kristie Cross

ASI is excited to announce that Kristie Cross has joined our firm as
Executive Counsel. Because of the steady growth of our firm and the
continuing need for expertise, research and communications, we are
happy to welcome Kristie as the newest member of our team.

Kristie has been involved in the governmental affairs and policy arena for
over 25 years, having worked alongside her late husband, former state
Senator Mike Cross, at Cross & Co. LLC. In fact, ASI President Alton Ashy
first met Kristie while he was working at the legislature for Mike.
Kristie was formerly General Counsel at Louisiana Family Forum.

Kristie’s background includes a BA in Political Science and a JD from the
LSU Paul M. Hebert Law School, where she was a member of Law Review
and Order of the Coif. She is a Board member of Central Community
Theatre and Central City Autism Awareness.

Kristie has the credentials, experience, and integrity to fill the needs
of all our clients.
